Hydrogen Removal Catalyst – SARV430
Platinum-based catalysts supported on alumina are considered an ideal choice for hydrogen removal from gas streams due to their high activity and stability. Depending on operational requirements and process conditions, these catalysts are manufactured in two physical forms: spherical shape with a diameter of 3 mm, and cylindrical shape with dimensions of 3×3 mm. Selecting the appropriate geometry enhances the reaction rate, improves gas distribution, and reduces pressure drop.
In urea production units, the SARV-430 catalyst is employed to prevent hazards associated with hydrogen (H₂) accumulation in carbon dioxide (CO₂) streams. In this process, precise and controlled injection of oxygen into the CO₂ stream leads to the rapid oxidation of hydrogen on the active surface of the catalyst, converting it into water vapor. This operation reduces hydrogen concentration to below 50 ppm, which is significantly lower than the explosion limit and well within safe operating conditions.
