LTSC Catalyst – sarv140
SARV-140 is a copper/zinc/alumina-based catalyst for Low Temperature Shift (LTS) reaction which converts CO to CO₂ while generating hydrogen and heat. SARV-140 catalyst has been specifically formulated to give the maximum achievable activity for the water-gas shift reaction at typical reaction temperatures.
Process:
The water-gas shift reaction plays a major role in ammonia and hydrogen plant design and operation. Good performance of the shift catalysts, and attainment of a close approach to equilibrium which results in minimization of the CO slip from the catalyst system, are critical to the efficient and economic operation of the plant and ensure maximum hydrogen production from the hydrocarbon feedstock.
The reaction is exothermic and high conversions are favored by low temperature and high steam ratio. The LTS catalyst is commonly found in ammonia and hydrogen production processes. In ammonia and hydrogen plants, the LTS is the last step in the process capable of producing additional hydrogen from the process gas.
